Rhode Island State Police said its Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Justin Brito, 26, at about 11 a.m. Oct. 20, on a Providence assault warrant. The State Police release was dated Oct. 21. It does not say where the arrest occurred.
State Police said the arrest was on an affidavit and arrest warrant from the Providence Police Department, alleging felony assault with a deadly weaponโstabbing. The agency said Brito was taken into custody without incident and turned over to Providence police at the scene.
That handoff establishes that Providence police received him at the scene, but not his later custody status. The warrant allegation is not a finding of guilt: an arrest does not resolve whether Brito committed the alleged offense. The release identifies no court appearance, plea or next court date.
