Water Expansion, Global Festival and New Restaurant Mark Busy Week in Gilbert

Water System Expansion Moves Forward

Gilbert’s North Water Treatment Plant continues its multi‑year reconstruction and expansion project near Higley and Guadalupe roads. The facility, which treats Salt River Project water, is being upgraded to boost daily capacity from 45 million gallons to 60 million gallons by its scheduled completion in 2027.

Town officials say the project is part of a broader long‑term strategy that blends SRP water, Colorado River supplies, groundwater and recycled water. Gilbert also continues storing significant volumes of water underground for future use, a key buffer as drought conditions persist across the Southwest.

Global Village Festival Returns April 1

The Gilbert Global Village Festival is set for Saturday, April 1, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Gilbert Civic Center Lawn. The free event highlights the town’s growing cultural diversity with international food vendors, live performances and educational exhibits.

Town leaders view the festival as both a cultural celebration and an economic driver for the Heritage District, bringing visitors to local restaurants and small businesses.

New Restaurant Investment at Epicenter

Economic development activity continues at Epicenter at Agritopia, where modern Latin restaurant The Mission is preparing for its Gilbert debut. The restaurant will mark its third Arizona location and is expected to add new hospitality jobs in the East Valley.

The opening adds to ongoing commercial growth in Gilbert’s mixed‑use districts, where dining and experiential retail remain strong draws despite broader market shifts.
