North Oaks’ 2026 street project begins on four roads
North Oaks’ 2026 street-improvement project is moving onto four road segments, bringing mill-and-overlay resurfacing and culvert replacements that will affect traffic as crews work through the city.
The city’s May 8 notice said tree removal was scheduled to begin May 11, 2026, followed by pavement removal and culvert work. Residents, commuters and local service providers should allow additional travel time and follow changing traffic controls and detours.
Roads included in the project
The work covers Pleasant Lake Road, West Pleasant Lake Road, a portion of East Pleasant Lake Road from Don Bush Road to East Oaks Road, and East Oaks Road from East Pleasant Lake Road to the railroad tracks.
North Oaks planned to advance the work in stages. Crews were expected to begin at the south end of Pleasant Lake Road, move north along West Pleasant Lake Road, and then continue to East Pleasant Lake Road and East Oaks Road.
The project does not mean all four road segments are closed at the same time. The city notice said traffic control and flaggers would be used as work progresses.
Short detours expected around culvert work
Culvert replacement detours were expected to last approximately one to two days at each location. The notice said those detours would be removed at the end of each workday, although traffic controls may shift as crews move between work areas.
The city said the school district, fire, police and emergency medical services agencies were notified. That coordination matters for school traffic, emergency response and anyone traveling through the affected streets during construction.
The notice also said no impacts to utilities in the easements were planned. That statement applies to the easements described in the notice; it does not establish that utilities would be unaffected in every location.
Weather could change the schedule
North Oaks said the work schedule could change because of weather and field conditions. The available notice does not provide a final completion date or a final project cost.
A review of the city’s available 2026 meeting records did not locate a later official completion or closeout notice by Aug. 7, 2026. The project should therefore be understood as an active or planned construction effort in the available record, rather than a confirmed completed project.
