Oxnard Seeks HUD Release for $2 Million Food Share Project
The City of Oxnard has issued a finding of no significant impact for Food Share Ventura Countyโs proposed warehouse and headquarters and plans to ask the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to release $2 million for the project.
The city published the environmental and funding notice on June 25, 2026. It said the request for release of the HUD Community Project Funding is planned for on or about July 24, 2026.
The action would direct federal community-development funding toward a facility intended to house Food Shareโs warehouse and headquarters in Oxnard. Food Share Ventura County serves residents experiencing food insecurity, according to the cityโs project notice.
Project details
The proposed Food Share Warehouse and Headquarters Project would be approximately 85,845 square feet on an approximately 9.7-acre site. The property consists of two vacant parcels at 1425 Mariner Drive and 1100 East Wooley Road, within the City of Oxnard.
The cityโs notice identifies the funding as HUD Community Project Funding under the Economic Development Initiative program. The planned facility would consolidate the warehouse and headquarters functions identified in the proposal at the Oxnard site.
For the city, the immediate development is a federal funding and environmental-review step rather than a completed construction project. The notice establishes Oxnardโs intent to request release of the money; it does not establish that HUD has released the funds.
What the notice means
A finding of no significant impact is part of the cityโs environmental process for the proposed project. Issuing that finding allows the city to move forward with the planned request, but it is not the same as announcing that the facility is built, fully funded or under construction.
The project siteโs size and location give the proposal a specific local footprint: about 9.7 acres across two currently vacant parcels on Mariner Drive and East Wooley Road. If the funding request advances, those parcels are identified as the future location for Food Shareโs warehouse and headquarters.
The city also maintains development-project maps and 2026 project reports through its Community Development Department. Those materials provide municipal development context for the proposed Food Share facility, while the June 25 notice contains the projectโs environmental and funding action.
Next step
The next known step is Oxnardโs planned submission to HUD on or about July 24, 2026, seeking release of the $2 million in Community Project Funding. The approved notice does not provide a final completion date, a construction schedule or a jobs estimate.
It also does not confirm a later HUD award or release of the money. Until a subsequent official record addresses that step, the project remains a proposed warehouse and headquarters project with a city-issued environmental finding and a planned federal funding request.
