Arlington-area gas slips to $3.32, diesel to $4.37, both below Texas avg
AAA’s June 20 Fort Worth-Arlington check shows regular at $3.323 and diesel at $4.373, both below Texas and U.S. averages today.
AAA’s June 20 check puts the Fort Worth-Arlington average at $3.323 for regular unleaded and $4.373 for diesel. Those are metro averages, not guaranteed Arlington station prices, but they give a useful read on where local fuel costs stand heading into summer travel.
Regular gas is down 4.7 cents from yesterday, 3.4 cents from last week, 62.6 cents from a month ago and 12.2 cents from the last site fuel-price check on June 10. Diesel is down 3.8 cents from yesterday, 17 cents from last week, 57.5 cents from a month ago and 25.2 cents from June 10.
Why it matters
Both fuels are still cheaper than the broader benchmarks. AAA’s Texas average is $3.460 for regular and $4.473 for diesel, while the national average is $3.951 for regular and $5.062 for diesel. In other words, Arlington-area drivers are still paying less than the state and national averages, with diesel sitting especially far below the U.S. figure.
The gap matters because diesel is the fuel that hits commuters in work trucks, contractors, delivery fleets, service businesses and farm or landscaping equipment. A lower average does not erase every route-specific cost, but it can ease some short-term pressure on operating budgets. For households, a softer regular-gas average can also help with commute costs and weekend road trips.
The federal Energy Information Administration’s June 16 update points in the same direction, showing national gasoline and diesel prices moving lower week over week. That does not guarantee more declines ahead, but it does suggest the current slide is part of a broader market pattern rather than a one-off local move.
Compared with the last site fuel-price check on June 10, regular is down 12.2 cents and diesel is down 25.2 cents. Compared with a year ago, regular is still up 36.1 cents and diesel is up 115.5 cents, which is a reminder that fuel relief remains uneven even when prices cool.
