Arlington Museum of Art Adds New Photography Exhibition as World Cup Shows Run Through Aug. 30

The Arlington Museum of Art will open The Big Picture to the public Friday, Aug. 7, adding a new large-format photography exhibition while the museum’s World Cup displays remain on view through Aug. 30.

The two offerings are separate. The Big Picture will run through Nov. 1 in the Help Center Gallery. The museum’s More Than a Match package, which was originally scheduled to close Aug. 3, remains available through Sunday, Aug. 30.

New photography exhibition opens Friday

The Big Picture is presented with the Texas Photographic Society and was juried by photographer and educator Dornith Doherty.

The exhibition emphasizes scale. Selected photographs are printed at approximately 40 inches wide, creating a larger format for viewing the work.

The museum will hold an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7. The exhibition will remain in the Help Center Gallery through Nov. 1.

According to the museum’s announcement, general admission is free.

World Cup package remains through Aug. 30

The museum’s More Than a Match package remains available through Aug. 30 after its original Aug. 3 closing date was extended.

The four-part package is tied to the 2026 FIFA World Cup matches at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Its exhibitions are:

• Soccer: The Passion for the World Cup
• Art of the Game
• Atlas of Champions
• Fabrics of Fanatics

The extension gives visitors additional time to see the World Cup-related displays, with Aug. 30 as the scheduled final viewing date for the package.

Visitor information

The Arlington Museum of Art is at 1200 Ballpark Way in Arlington’s Entertainment District. The museum lists regular visitor hours as Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.; it is closed Mondays. Visitors should check the museum’s official information before planning a visit because hours can change.

The next key dates are Friday, Aug. 7, when The Big Picture opens and its reception is scheduled; Sunday, Aug. 30, the final scheduled day for the More Than a Match package; and Nov. 1, when The Big Picture is scheduled to close.
