Transit Wind-Down, Housing Report and Utility Upgrades Mark Key Week in Anaheim

Anaheim is heading into the final days of March with several significant government and infrastructure developments that will directly affect residents, commuters and local businesses.

Resort Transit Service Ending March 31

Anaheim Resort Transportation, the circulator system serving Disneyland, hotels and the Convention Center area, is set to end service on March 31, 2026. The shutdown follows rising operating costs and flat revenues, according to agency information.

The closure will impact visitors and workers who rely on the system’s routes connecting hotels, parking areas and major attractions. City leaders have previously explored alternatives, but as of this week, no replacement service has been announced. The transition places added focus on OCTA bus routes, rideshare services and private shuttles in the resort district.

Housing Progress Report Before Council

The City Council recently reviewed its annual housing progress report, outlining how Anaheim is tracking toward state-mandated housing goals. The latest figures show thousands of units permitted so far toward the city’s long-term allocation target.

Much of that activity continues in growth areas such as Anaheim Hills and the Platinum Triangle, where higher-density and mixed-use projects are reshaping former commercial corridors. City planners say meeting state benchmarks remains critical to maintaining local control over zoning decisions.

$25 Million Utility Undergrounding Underway

Infrastructure investment also remains front and center. A $25 million utility undergrounding project along Beach Boulevard is currently in progress, with completion expected in 2026. The city recently gained greater control of the corridor, allowing streetscape and beautification upgrades to move forward more quickly.

Additional undergrounding work is planned in wildfire-prone areas and along other key corridors. Officials say the strategy improves reliability, reduces fire risk and enhances neighborhood aesthetics while supporting long-term economic development.

Together, transit changes, housing production and infrastructure upgrades reflect a period of transition for Anaheim as it balances tourism, growth and neighborhood investment.
