Nevada Adds 100,800 Jobs Since December 2022 as June Employment Reaches Record Level
Nevada’s seasonally adjusted nonfarm employment reached 1,614,100 in June 2026, marking an increase of 100,800 jobs since December 2022, according to state and federal labor data.
Gov. Joe Lombardo announced the milestone July 16. His office described the June employment level as the highest in Nevada history. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics later listed the same employment total in its Nevada labor-market data, which identified the June figures as preliminary.
What the latest data show
Nevada’s total nonfarm employment was up 2.3% from June 2025, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The state’s June unemployment rate was 5.1% in the preliminary data.
The figures provide a current statewide benchmark for workers, employers and policymakers. They also offer a measure of the labor-market performance underlying Nevada’s economic diversification efforts, although the employment data do not by themselves establish why the jobs were created or how evenly growth was distributed.
The 100,800-job increase compares June’s employment level with December 2022, the month before Lombardo took office. The governor’s announcement framed that change as a milestone reached during his administration.
Growth was reported across several industries
June employment gains included mining and logging, government, and education and health services. The approved labor data also list industry-level employment and year-over-year changes, but the information available for this report does not provide a complete breakdown of the number of jobs added by each sector.
That distinction matters because statewide growth does not mean every industry, community or region experienced the same change. The available figures show an overall increase and identify several sectors with gains, but they do not support a conclusion that job growth was equal across Nevada.
For Nevada workers and employers, the report’s most direct measure is the size of the state’s nonfarm job base and the unemployment rate recorded at the same time. The 5.1% unemployment figure indicates that job growth and unemployment were reported together in June; it does not describe individual workers’ experiences or the availability of jobs in particular occupations.
Investment figure remains a separate administration claim
Lombardo’s office also said Nevada had attracted more than $6 billion in private investment during the administration. That figure was cited in the governor’s announcement alongside the employment milestone.
The private-investment total is separate from the Bureau of Labor Statistics employment figures. The sources reviewed for this report do not independently audit that investment figure, and the release’s attribution of job growth to administration policies is not independently established by the employment data.
The federal labor figures remain preliminary, meaning the June employment and unemployment numbers may not be the final reported values. The latest official release nevertheless gives Nevada a current snapshot: 1,614,100 nonfarm jobs, 100,800 more than in December 2022, 2.3% year-over-year employment growth and a 5.1% unemployment rate.
No additional deadline or scheduled state action was identified in the approved material. The next relevant benchmark in the packet is the eventual finalization or updating of the preliminary June labor figures.
