Frisco zoning panel to consider 224-acre Main Street request July 28
Frisco’s Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled to consider several land-use requests at a public hearing Tuesday, July 28, including a nearly 224-acre property near Main Street and Majestic Gardens Drive.
The hearing is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center Council Chambers at Frisco City Hall, 6101 Frisco Square Boulevard.
Largest request covers nearly 224 acres
Case Z25-0008 covers approximately 223.9 acres at the southeast and southwest corners of Majestic Gardens Drive and Main Street.
The request would repeal Ordinance No. 16-02-09, amend the city’s zoning ordinance and rezone the property into planned-development categories that include retail, office, townhome, patio-home, single-family and multifamily designations.
The city’s notice does not establish a building count, construction schedule, traffic plan, tax impact or guarantee that the proposed land-use changes will be approved.
Two other zoning cases are listed
Case Z25-0013 involves approximately 104.4 acres at the southwest corner of FM 423 and University Drive, also identified in the city notice as U.S. 380. The request would repeal Ordinance No. 2021-12-68, amend the zoning ordinance and rezone the property as Planned Development-254.
Case Z26-0011 involves approximately 8.8 acres at the northwest corner of FM 423 and Main Street. The application seeks a zoning change to Single Family-7. The notice identifies the existing zoning as Agricultural.
What happens at the hearing
The Planning and Zoning Commission reviews zoning-change requests and makes recommendations to the Frisco City Council. It is not the same as final City Council approval for zoning ordinance changes.
That distinction matters for residents, nearby property owners and people tracking future housing or commercial development in the area. The July 28 proceeding is a scheduled public hearing on pending applications. Any commission recommendation would be a step in the process, not confirmation that new development has been approved.
How to follow the next steps
Frisco posts zoning cases through its Planning Division and publishes meeting agendas, action summaries, minutes and videos through the city’s Meetings and Agendas system. The city says agendas are generally posted at least three business days before a meeting, while videos, when available, are usually posted within 24 hours.
Residents following these cases should look for the commission’s later action record and any subsequent City Council agenda or decision. Those records will provide the clearest indication of whether the applications advance, change or do not move forward.
