Memphis-area voters have a tight deadline to make sure they’re eligible to vote in Shelby County’s Aug. 6, 2026 election. The Shelby County Election Commission says voter registration applications must be turned in by July 7, 2026 at 4:30 p.m..
SCEC also notes that voter registration applications must be received in its office or postmarked at least 30 days before Election Day—which lines up with the July 7 deadline for an Aug. 6 election.

If you need an absentee ballot
SCEC’s posted guidance indicates absentee ballot requests must be in writing and received by July 27. For certain voters, SCEC also provides a fillable absentee application for non-military and overseas voters for the Aug. 6 election—whose “Last Day to Accept” is also July 27.
