Arlington Daily Local Brief: Traffic Stops Report, Globe Life Field Scheduling Mix-Up, College Baseball Weekend
Arlington, TX – February 28, 2026 – Traffic-stop data, a Globe Life Field prom mix-up, and a big college baseball weekend lead today’s local brief.
1) Arlington releases new traffic-stop snapshot
A new Arlington Police Department report presented to City Council this week shows the department conducted about 103,000 traffic stops in 2025. In the department’s breakdown, Black drivers represented the largest share of people stopped (about 36.5%), followed by Hispanic or Latino drivers (about 32%) and white drivers (about 23%).
Police officials said the jump in stops was tied to traffic-safety efforts and that officers typically do not know a driver’s race before making most stops. Council discussion also noted that Arlington’s roadways serve plenty of non-residents, which can complicate comparisons to the city’s population makeup.
2) Globe Life Field scheduling conflict bumps a school prom plan
A North Texas high school’s plan to hold prom at Globe Life Field on May 16 ran into a major scheduling conflict after the school began receiving promotional emails for an Eagles concert booked for the same night. School leaders said they were disappointed by the late surprise and the disruption for students and families who had planned around the venue.
Globe Life Field and its event partner said the prom deposit would be refunded and that they were working with organizers on a resolution, including an alternative experience at no additional cost.
3) Big sports weekend at Globe Life Field: college baseball returns
Globe Life Field is also busy this weekend with the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series continuing in Arlington. Multiple nationally prominent programs are in town, adding another high-traffic draw to the Entertainment District as the city heads into the final weekend of February.
Quick takes
- If you are driving near the Entertainment District, expect heavier-than-usual congestion around game and event times.
- For families planning spring events, Arlington venues are booking quickly as concert and sports calendars overlap.
