Killeen Police Investigate Fatal Shooting Outside Nightclub
Killeen, TX — February 3, 2026 — A man was fatally shot outside Club Blu Print early Sunday morning; police are seeking information from the public.
Fatal Shooting Outside Club Blu Print
Early Sunday morning, Killeen police responded to reports of gunshots outside Club Blu Print at 4505 E. Veterans Memorial Boulevard. Officers found James Marquis Simmons in the parking lot with a gunshot wound. Despite being airlifted to Carl R. Darnall Medical Center, Simmons succumbed to his injuries. An unknown vehicle was seen leaving the scene. High-Speed Crash Leads to Multiple Injuries
On Friday evening, a high-speed driver caused a five-car collision on E. Stan Schlueter Loop. The driver of a blue Dodge Charger struck multiple vehicles before the car caught fire. All involved were transported to local hospitals with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The Killeen Police Department’s Traffic Unit is investigating the incident, which led to road closures for several hours.
Completion of Chaparral High School
American Constructors has completed Chaparral High School, the newest campus for Killeen Independent School District. The 432,000-square-foot facility includes 72 classrooms, 22 science labs, and specialized areas for robotics, engineering, and ROTC. The school can accommodate up to 3,000 students and features a 1,200-seat auditorium and a regional athletics complex. A dedication ceremony was held with district leadership, students, families, and community members.
New Stores Coming to Killeen Mall
Killeen Mall is set to welcome new retailers, including HomeGoods, TJ Maxx, and Five Below, in 2026. Construction began in November 2025 to fill vacant anchor spaces and other areas on the south side of the mall property. The mall, which opened in 1981, continues to evolve to meet the shopping needs of the community.
City’s Fire Department Achieves Top Rating
The Killeen Fire Department has been redesignated as ISO Class 1 by the Insurance Services Office, placing it among an elite group of fire departments nationwide. This top rating reflects the department’s enhanced ability to minimize fire damage and protect lives and property. The improved rating is expected to result in lower homeowners and business insurance premiums for Killeen residents.
